Hi Guys.......Just bought this super sensitive 5x14 B/O badge 1544775. Some surface rust and usual pitting but ill have it looking the part once I get it and bring it up to scratch. It looks full original but I need to know year of manufacture from the Ludwig experts. Also ive never had one of these snare drums normally the 400 or 402. Are there any known probs setting them up as in snare action.....Any advice or help appreciated.......
Ludwig Super Sensitive 70's needs restoring help on id
Here are some more pics.I do notice on butt end seems twisted on adjusting screw ..........possibly needs straightening which wont be a problem. Ludwig guys have a look and throw as much advice or help...Thanks.....
Anywhere from 70 to 79 with that badge, Should be stamped inside. Because of the color shade, on the badge I`d say early 70`s
It`s missing the roll cage around the throw.

I think there should be some sort of cage both ends. I have looked at a lot that don't have them, are they a part people just take off. I can easily find or make the part for it. Thanks for the info odd ball.....sean
The older one`s had a flat stock cage more like a cradle, the .."new SS" from 70 with that badge and nothing left or right of the throw in the panels (badge/vent) had the tubular ..."roll cage" that yours should have.

I have ordered 2 snare guards from USA. When the drum arrives obviously it will get the full strip down and deep clean. It will look the business when I show it again. One thing im good at is restoring these snare drums. I like that last snare drum not many of them around.
When the drum is finished in all its glory ill post the finished drum.

Hello Purdie...........Thanks for help and advice all points taken on board. I had an issue with butt end. As it was out of line. Both ends are now in line and snare action is equal. I do a lot with prem 2000's setting them up is easier but now ive got the the Ludwig Knack thanks to people like your self its basically easy. Once the drum is complete ill post pics. One last thing I bought new snare guards and it looks the part now not one spec of rust any where...........Thx...sean
