Ludwig SS different feel

Hey everyone

I got my Ludwig SS 14x6,5" for a year now.

It's a 1978.

Is it me or is the feel when playing the drum totally different compared to a regular supra?

My hands and technique are OK, I'm totally relaxed, but the drum itself gives me some kind of a 'stressful' feeling... It's like I can't get the snares to sound right. I like an open sound medium/tight.

I want a rock 'n roll sound with the snares just tight enough (not orgestral short), and keeping the sound as open and 'warm' as possible.

Something between Ian Paice and John Bonham. I'm using coated ambassador on top and a 'snare side' ludwig head.

Maybe you guys can help me, by telling me how to set the snare tenion the right way. Do I have to turn both knobs at the same time when tensioning the wires?

An orchestral snare should sound orchestral. Rock n roll is too much for a snare so lightly armored. Maybe get a rock n roll snare. Don't beat down an SS, who's gonna play for all them suits and ties ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
