Here is a 1968 Ludwig BD w/ clear interior that I have been sanding down. It had a nightmare glue/rewrap mess, but it's looking much better now. As I am getting close to filling a couple extra holes I have noticed the spur mounts are so close to lug casings that one of them (pic to the Right)actually overlaps by 1/8". It appears that a previous owner relocated spurs toward center of shell, but the existing marks indicate that spurs were mounted in the pattern closer to the front bearing edge. Was that the NORMAL spot for the spur placement on these 20" kick drums? I am thinking I will use the retractable spurs that it was drilled for(housing is smaller than the mount for folding style) but they are still way too close to casings. DOH
Ludwig Spur Placement
I can try to get you a shot of my 69 20" tonight if you want.
You "may" be able to find what your looking for in here:

Looks like on the 20" they mounted the spurs in the middle of the shell. That's quite different than the way they are mounted on a 22" shell. I already filled the 2 holes that I thought were 'extras', but now I think I will fill all the holes & then re-drill for center mount folding spurs. The folding ones look SO much better. Yes, I would appreciate when you have a chance to post a shot of the '69 20" for me. It seems as though the "proper" placement will be right in the middle.
sorry I missed your reply yesterday, I'll get a shot tonight and post it for you.
this is what I've got available right now, shows it pretty well:
