I don't believe the metal hoops are original, all the Ludwig SL kits I've seen in the catalogs had wood hoops.
This is correct. The hoops should be black painted wood with matching inlay.

Standard + Ludwig, lower line kit ,were offered for a while ,then discontinued then offered 82/ 83,kits came with 6 ply kick,4 ply toms and snare
