Ok, so I decided to take my 13" off a snare stand and mount it on the tom arm. I want to gig the kit like this because it's original and I don't have to take two snare stands. My problem is the crappy fold out legs, never liked this design, but I'm not about to modify them. The kick barely gets off the ground and the kick keeps moving, I'm sure you Ludwig guys know what I'm talking about. Anyway, is there anything I can do to remedy this?
Ludwig Question
I love those legs, I have no problem getting mine off the ground , also I don't bury the beater in the head so I don't move the bass drum. Do you have Velcro on your bass drum pedal that helps, ? Sorry not much you're looking for here.
How much space are you able to get off the floor? As you can see in this picture, I get maybe a 1/4 inch. I have the legs at the angle that would get me the most height. Are your legs longer?
you could get the spurs that clamp to your bass drum hoop, that would save any altrations
It may be blasphemy to the purists- but I gig my drums- and on the Ludwig fold-outs I welded another inch and a half of rod on the end.... ground smooth and sprayed silver with the rubber tips back on raised the front of the bass. If I sell I will tell the person or find proper length legs- but hey- factory made them too short!!! Also velcro on the bottom of the pedal and I always play on my carpet/ sticks like glue!!!
if your talking about the legs moving in the mounts? you can buy new style mounts & memory locks , they have a tab that fits into the mounts, they look very close to the original mounts
now if your saying the legs are not long enough to raise the drum off the floor? you can straighten the angle out a little, and gain some length.

When I use my dw 5000 double chain pedal the kick usually stays in place, it's when I use my Speed King that the kick moves. I'm buying one of those bass drum anchors today, like what Ringo used, hopefully that will take care of both problems.
DW/Gibraltar make a unique Velcro anchor for such a problem. Neat little product/idea. Check it out!

You're in luck.... INDe makes a great, no drill, solution for this issue. Take a look at the "Vintage Spur Upgrade Kit" using this link: https://www.indedrum.com/drum-upgrades-accessories/inde-suspension-mounting-bracket-z7nsy
There's a product vid on the page as well so you can get an idea of the install process and how they fold-up etc...
