We have a fairly old Ludwig field drum at my school that has a kind of odd looking snare system that seem to be functioning fine. The problem is that the snares themselves are missing. Each individual snare wire looks like it's supposed to be hooked through a screw on one side and then tightened down. I guess it's supposed to be saudered to a piece of metal on the other side that gets strung to the drum.
Any suggestions on how this can be repaired? It looks like a really nice drum, just in need of snares badly. We'd really like to repair it, as opposed to paying big bucks for a new field drum.
I'd appreciate any advice you could give.
Thanks!
