Ludwig LM402 6.5 vintage supraphonic snare tention rods Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Got me a nice LM402 6.5 vintage supraphonic snare. Taking it apart for a complete resto and it has 3 different length tension rods. 3.5 inches, 3.25 inches and 2.75 inches. I want to return it to original condition. Does anyone know what length t rods it came with in the 70's? Also, its missing the ludalloy sticker on the inside (I can see where it used to be). Can you get reproductions of those? Thanks in advance.

Just pulled a rod off my all original 1971 402 and it measures 2 3/4" tip to tip.

How many do you need?

If you can post a pic with a ruler next to it.(to show thread length)..that helps,as they would change them over time....

Thanks guys and hello Blair. I bought some premier 60's cymbal stands from you earlier this year. I'd need 10 of the 2 3/4 rods as one side was correct and the other side was all wrong. Maybe a couple more as I need to make sure the correct ones I have are all straight. Stand by and I'll get back. What were you thinking price wise?

Also, what was the original strainer? The one it has now is a 20 strand. One side has the original string attachement and the other side a plastic tab. I know its not original as it doesn't say "ludwig" on it. I think I read somewhere it was a 40 strand, but I'm not sure.

Also, anyone have any idea on reproduction ludalloy stickers?

Thanks.

Rzaidy,

Great project there. The 402 may end up being the only snare you use going forward. The original came with 18-strand wire snares. Good luck and show some pics when complete.
