Ludwig L Arm Question

Loading...

Hey guys,

Well the entire kit has arrived and I am very happy with everything except for one small thing. I am using a L arm on my bass drum to hold my 20" ride cymbal. I am finding that no matter how tight I turn the wingnut on the damn thing it doesn't seem to get tight enough. So when I am playing the ride cymbal the entire bass drums shakes about like crazy.

Was the L arm a flawed design or am i doing something wrong?

Pics of the kit will be posted this weekend.

YES FINALLY!

It really depends on the weight of that cymbal and how heavy you

are playing.

If the knurled end of the l-arm is messed up then it will just keep slipping also.

I would think a 20" ride should be fine for jazz playing, but if you are laying into the ride with a heavier style it might not take the extra power.

Personally I have never used L-arms with heavy cymbals and depending on if there is a mechanical problem with the wing nut or the knurled end it will never stay in place.

Let's see a picture of the set-up also so we can make a better determination of the exact situation regarding angle, cymbal height

and of the l-arm if possible.
