Ludwig identification

Loading...

Hey Guys,

a good friend of mine found this set in his grandfather's basement.

Could you please help us with the identification?

It seems like the drums are from different series', but the same finish?

Sizes are: 12", 13", 16", 22"

What do you think is this set worth?

Thanks,

Gerold

The ones with the keystone badges are older drums; the blue & olive badged floor tom is a newer drum but essentially the same. Have to say, I've never seen an assortment of holes in a bass drum like that one. Should still sound good. Big fan of Black Diamond Pearl Ludwigs.......marko

Yeah, man....always nice to find something like that.

As far as value...not much. It isn't a matched set and the bass drum has been altered in a major way. The finish is cool, but not super-desirable among Ludwig collectors. I mean....it's better to just use it as a player. The drums probably could be made to sound good -depending on the condition of the bearing edges.

You won't get much for them on the market, though. But since they aren't matched, anyway, if you really wanted to sell them, I would advise you to separate them and sell them individually -you might snag a buyer who is looking for that one drum to complete an otherwise incomplete kit.

If they have sentimental value, then you could always make them a restoration project.

-my take, anyway!

Thanks, guys.

Well, I was thinking about buying them from him - because he is no drummer and it is not of value for him.

Do you think 1000$ is appropriate?

I might just restore and play them :)

$1000 would be pretty high for those. I'd think somewhere between $600-$800 would be upper end given the mods and extra holes on the bass drum and that they aren't an original factory set.
