Ludwig Hollywood series from 60’s?

Loading...

Hello everyone.

I saw a kit for sale and the seller claims it’s a Hollywood kit from the 60’s. I never ran into a kit with a dual tom mount like this one. Could you help me determine what do I have here?

Thank you in advance.

Ludwig did not use a mount like that on any 60's Hollywood kits. As far as what it is, I can't tell by the pics. Ludwig had a few different hollywood setups in the 60's-70's, but they utilized a common square mount placed in the center of the drum.

Those tom mounts just didn’t look right to me. Maybe someone butchered the kit by placing that mount there :(

Definitely not Ludwig tom mounts. Can't really see them well enough to tell what they might be but I'd guess they are some made in Japan mounts. Are the insides of the drums painted white or gray? (should be white).

There wasn't a "Hollywood series" of Ludwig drums. All the drums they made were the same. "Hollywood" was the name of a particular 5 piece combination of these drums, initially it was a 12/12/16/22 with snare and then switched to the more common 12/13/16/22 with Supra Phonic snare. A 12" tom from a Hollywood set was identical to a 12" tom from a Downbeat or a Big Beat outfit (and the Big Beat was the exact same drum line up as the Hollywood but with heavier duty stands).

Thank you for your input. I’m thinking I’m going to pass on it. Those holes would be hard to restore and I don’t think they are worth the asking price.

I truly appreciate your input.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
