I'm looking for an original Ludwig hex bolt used on the upper portion of an early '60s rail consolette. If anyone's got an "extra" I'd love to hear from you. I might also be interested in the clip. THANKS!
Ludwig Hex Bolt For Rail Consolette
I have no idea, so I'm just throwing this out there for you...
Have you tried reproduction motorcycle hardware? I mention it because they sell A LOT of chrome plated hardware for restoration and just 'bling' replacement for a lot of motorcycles these days... Might be worth an hour or two searching to find a bolt like this. The nut is a tall nut, and you might find a coupling nut in stainless that can be cut down to the proper length. Coupling nuts are designed for attaching two pieces of threaded rod (sometimes called "all-thread") together for hanging light fixtures for example, from very high ceilings. If you have access to a lathe, a piece of stainless hex stock can quickly be made into one of these.
(By the way, the round head bolt with the square under the head is called a carriage bolt, which may make your search easier)You could also try searching "elevator bolt" but those are different- they have a flat head.
Also check for Stainless Steel versions. Although not as strong (but certainly strong enough), the head can be polished to gleam very close to chrome.
If you do find something, let us know!

Thanks so much for your time and for the great information that you provided. I appreciate it. Also, thank you for "enlightening me" regarding the term carriage bolt!
My pleasure!
I hope you get it sorted so we can hear the old drums again!
