Ludwig Cymbal

Loading...

Can anyone tell me about a vintage cymbal I have. Its a 12in Ludwig rivet cymbal, the wording on the rivets says LUDWIG & LUDWIG CHICAGO Ill. I was given it by an old man during the 70's and just found it going through some old boxes.

Is it rare? should it go to a museum or collector? any feedback much appreciated. I can send pic if you want to email me. Thanks Gary (new UK member)

This is known as the "Sizzle" cymbal, & was often played w/ a special notched stick run along the edge. I found one several years ago, & they do show up from time to time. They can still be used in a drum set, collectors like them, but they do not command much attention, or $$. (Here's a photo from my 1932 catalog 32A. The other is from Google images)

I have an old Ludwig 11" splash from the 30's I think...It weighs a ton and has heavy patina on it...It also has the smaller diameter center hole...It has a long sustain to it...Sorry I don't have pics right now of it...Will post later...

Cheers
