Ludwig Butcher Block Wrap Piece

Loading...

HI.

Got a cool 80's Ludwig kit in Butcher Block, but it has some massive power toms...one of which I plan on turning into a floor tom by adding legs. This means I must fill some holes from a modular mount and cap off the filled holes with wrap. Anyone have some extra butcher block wrap laying around?

It's countertop material. Maybe see if you can buy a remnant from a home improvement store or remodeler? I put stickum-backed sandpaper on the inside of a drum to sand a dowel to the shell's radius, then glue the wrap to that - you may need to use contact cement, since formica is stiff stuff. But it will probably be much easier to bend a 1" diameter piece to a dowel than try and wrap an entire drum at home with the stuff.

Also, if you get the right material, you can probably match exactly, since it's a repeating pattern.
