Ludwig 1123-1 hi hat short? tall?

I bought a box o' Ludwig hi hat parts and stuff. On the 1123-1, some of the upper tubes are 17.5 inches and some 23.5, with rods to match.

Some of the clutches have that wacky oval adjusting nuts, some don't.

I'd like to re-sell some of them after a bit of cleanup (them, not me), and I'd like to have some idea of how to describe them accurately.

Help??

Thanks!

I've run into that as well on some of the 70's models having the longer tube and rod. Not sure of a proper name identification other than what you described really. It is a option that some would desire in many cases.

+1 with what Mike says about this. I've seen both lengths. I ordered a replacement rod from Jim Petty and specified that I wanted the shorter rod.

Any ideas when this longer rod became available? Or was it always an option.

No, it's not a big deal -- but now I'm curious...
