Hello!
I've found a cool Pioneer, I can't place the color, (probably my eyes!)
Stamp date Dec. 11 1963. A week newer than the one pictured on KCDrumDads fine book.
It's like a light green/gold/yellow.
Thanks for any input!
I like it what ever it's called.
I don't know what he heck is wrong with me, I'll pull a lug off and get back with everyone!FYI
First of all..that's a beautiful drum and a great year! The Pioneer is probably my favorite wood snare drum of all, so I may be biased!
My guess is that it's a really yellowed silver sparkle. It seems to be very uniform so it's likely a chemical reaction and not a sun fade.

I would think if it was that faded, you would see a line where the head overlaps
Under the lug should tell the tale. That date stamp is one year prior to my birthday. I have a Club Date tom that is one year after my birthday.

If it was a fade due to UV light then that would be correct. But, sometimes, there was a chemical reaction with the plastic, glue...whatever....and the entire wrap would change color, regardless. It appears to be in extremely nice condition, so it was probably kept in its suitcase over the years. Maybe there was some kind of outgassing of the plastic wrap while it was in the case and that outgassing caused a chemical reaction that made the wrap change color...just to throw one theory out there.
It's a cool color, too! I like it!
