As obvious as that sounds, I never thought of that. I've always clamped. Freekin' genius. On a side note, it may not be my fault. My wife doesn't trust me with power tools.True story: early in our marriage, my wife bought me a power drill. I popped it open, plugged it in, and drilled a hole into the wall where I was sitting. I looked at her and said, "cool, it works!" She didn't find the humor in it. Some jokes are not for everyone.

I gotta say...I only had that lightbulb moment AFTER I couldn't find any long clamps locally. I was sittin' and staring at the shell, cursing...and suddenly streams of the most beautiful light came shining through the lug holes, as a flock of white doves glided by.....(it was a beautiful moment, really).
Tillerva...the thing is...old wrap has "memory"...so if it's been lifted for a while....it will "want" to flex back into that state and position.
More often than not in these seam instances, you are probably right....if one can get the surfaces uber-clean and really get in there and apply the cement well, it might hold by just the glue itself...but I think wood and clamps are a good idea on old wraps....[/COLOR]
