Loose Ludwig baseball bat muffler

Loading...

May seem like a silly question, but the muffler on my 12" is slipping. I've tightened up everything that appears able to be tightened, but with continuous playing eventually the muffler just falls down. Is there some trick to getting these to stay up? Both mounted Tom mufflers are in great shape and the felts look good also. The 13" works fine, the 16" is missing and I found/ordered one. Just seeing if I'm bypassing some sort of logic.... Thanks

that large nut that compresses the spring is usually the problem there. even if its tight, it can be tightened even more. give that a shot if you haven't already..

Does that spring ever just compress past good use? Is it possible to get a new spring that is the correct tension? I ask because I did tighten it down quite a bit and it looks like I'm crushing the spring at this point and it's gotten slightly better; I mean it still slips a bit but not as bad as before.
