Leedy Engraved Snare

I recently purchased a very neat early 20's(maybe a 24) Leedy 5x15 8 lug engraved snare drum. these are commonly referred to as leedy black elites. this being earlier may be an engraved multi model.

this drum has no extra holes or modifications. it has only been cleaned with soap and water. my plans were to find a few parts that it needs before I decided what to do with it. parts haven't been easy to come by,however. it needs the bottom tension rods and also the lower section to the strainer. I did purchase 8 brass machine screws that are in the bottom now. I also attached the snare wires to the strainer using a coupler. it is attached and adjusts but doesn't release totally. this was just something to hold me over to be able to play it. nothing was modified.

this is the only 5x15 that I have come across. this is also the only drum that I have seen with this particular pattern. could be something very special here I think.

I do not have a price right now as I don't know much about these. i'm not 100 percent sure that I even want to sell it. I would appreciate if anyone interested in making an offer please pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net .thank you..

Parts are easy to find you just have to go to the right source. I had on of the same drum, in a 1920's model which I have sold since. You can contact these people it a division of Maxwell Stevens he owns Leedy currently and make all the vintage model parts and drums abroad. They are a bit expensive but you will find any Leedy part made.
