Leedy cracked brass hoop repair

Loading...

So I brought this hoop off another forum member for a leedy resto I'm

In the middle of doing. It arrived with an undisclosed crack on one side.

Looks like it has been there for awhile and that an attempt gas been made

To braze it as it is blackened around the area.

It is a 14" 20's leedy professional model hoop made of brass. I want to have it

Repaired before having it chrome plated to match the other hoop on the drum.

It really only needs to Be filled prior to plating I think. I have read that a low temp silver solder method

Would probably be right for this repair. Any ideas/input on fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

That is something I would leave to the plating company. You can include the crack repair as part of the plating job. I'm sure they can do a professional job for you where you won't be able to find where the crack was after they're through with it.

Like John says give it to the plating company they will braze it for you and you will not know were it was after they finish.
