Leads or substitutes for PRS1416 Puresound wires?

Loading...

I would like to use the strap style PRS1416's for my '53 RK Hollywood Ace restoration, and I've been searching online, calling locations when a search results in a hit, and monitoring eBay for weeks - all in vain.

Does anybody have a good source/lead for these? (I know....I know...they're no longer being produced). So I'm relying on finding one left in stock anywhere. But the few that I've tracked down online from retailers/shops come up empty ("Oh, is that still listed on our website? I should probably take that off"). I've found a few in Europe, but don't really trust whether they actually have them, either (not to mention the 2-3 x's the price, not including shipping - even if they ARE really there.

So I need you guys' advice....stay the course and just keep looking, or go with a suitable substitute (if there even is one). I haven't compromised on even a single washer on this restoration, so I don't know...

Any advice or guidance would once again prove very VERY helpful. So if I could ask, anyone have some specific advice in what direction to turn? And I mean specifics, guys, because I'm a newbie at this, ok? FYI - my three point is the original single hole/screw.

I called D'Addario several weeks ago and was told by their "Drum Guy" that they have no plans at this time to re-introduce, but he didn't impress me as being very knowledgeable or someone of any authority. I've also been told that they plan on re-introducing after the start of this new year, so I don't know what to believe - so I have to move forward for now assuming the worst - that there will be no more of these produced in the foreseeable future.

Sorry for this being so damn long. Thanks again, as always, guys.

Hey all I have a set of prs1416 puresound snare wires in new condition listed for a NR auction on eBay right now. I'm cleaning house and I had these saved as a backup for my 50's RK but decided to let them go.

Do you mean the puresound special extended wires for radio king with three point strainer? If so vintage drum yard in the u.k. Still have them I think. I had to get some and yes unfortunately they are far too expensive. But if you realy need them... Please pardon me if these aren't what you mean as I've forgot the serial number.

( I'm hoping these will keep being more available as mine have somehow got twisted/gone bad) am now using Canopus vintage dry ( non plated) - bypassing the extended design. Anyway a good sound I think. Dam awfull price for the puresound ones though.
