We were speaking of resonance, so I bought a set of those Pearl Air Suspension Feet for my floor tom. Basically, they are big rubber feet that soaks up the resonance instead of the floor. I was skeptical, but they do absolutely make a difference. The tom really rings nice and smooth with a much slower decay. Well worth it. I'll have to buy another set for the other floor tom.
I'm also debating getting a suspension system for the rack tom. When I hit the tom while held loosely in my hand, the tom rings beautifully, however when I mount it, it definitely loses resonance. These suspension systems are interesting for sure and look like they would work. I'm just not sure how they will hook up to my mount. The Gibralter system seems like it might work for me and the price looks good to. Anyone have any experience with them? Maybe I'll post pics of my tom mount and somebody can tell me if it will work.
