I picked up a Gretsch bass drum that needed a lot of work. Too much, really. I traded it for an old Ludwig, 26" from the 30s. Here it is with the wrap peeling off:

I opted out of the imperial lugs because they weren't nickel plated. The trade included single tension hardware. The rest of my set is single tension. It made sense.
Here it is after cleaning it up. I installed a toggle switch near the top of the drum for the light. Some day I'll paint the front head. I've got a design worked out, but not enough time to do it right.
It isn't perfect, but that's ok. Nothing stays "perfect" for long.
