Received this one not long ago. At first glance it looks like one of the chrome over wood blue olive badge models that were made in the early 80's. But, they had rounded corner blue olive badges, often used this style of lug, and of course were wood shells wrapped in chrome. This drum is a different animal. This is a metal (Ludalloy) Ludwig Standard drum from the very late 60's/early 70's. These drums were offered in chrome and also a more popular aluminum finish. But this is the first one that I've come across with the blue olive badge. The Standard drums usually have the triangular shaped Standard badges. The drum appears to be original. The grommet has not been tampered with. The serial number coincides with the time frame in which it was built. It has the correct block logo P83 throwoff that is associated with the Standard snares. The snare butt end is of script logo which is also common during 69 or so. The shell is much like the Supraphonic and the Acrolite sans center bead. Came to me very clean and in great condition. I snapped a couple of so so pics. I am using the seller's pics to show the interior and such. If anyone has one of these pointy blue olive badge models, please let me know so we can compare details.

One last comparison. My new metal Standard and my 80's chrome over wood model. The Standard is the one with the lower badge.

Hey Mike

Have never seen this, maybe the assemblers just grabbed the wrong badge and slapped it on the drum. Will be interesting to see if anyone else has one, I have never seen one

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
