I am such a goof. I took it apart and got it all stripped, cleaned and ready to go and, I can't remember how the base drum spurs mount.

The backer plate on the spur mount can be attached in two different ways.

In one way, it pushes the spur forward and out a little.

If mounted the other way, the spurs are kicked in a little and more down.

Without actually setting up the set, it looks like it could go either way.

The slight indentations in the wood show that it might have gone both ways at one time or another. Perhaps they are adjustable and go one way if you use the points and one way is if you use the rubber tips. Just guessing on that. But the hole in the shell is a slot and it looks like it was made to go either way.

Anyway, the two different possibilities certainly make a considerable difference in the placement of the spur.
