Not to burst anyones bubble but that kit you have is most likely a late 40's possibly early 50's set. WFL as far as I know never offered custom paint jobs like that on heads. I know they would do the logo like Buddy Rich had but as far as I know they stopped making those kind of paintings in the 30's.

Your set has single centered classic lugs and the classic lug was introduced in 1940.Because your bass drum does not have any legs built in to the bass drum I am going to still guess that it is late 40's. What does the badge on your drums read? Is there a Ludwig logo on the bottom of that painting? It's a cool painting that actually could be one of a kind but pssibly not from someone at WFL. The set looks to be in good shape. Most of those duco finishes chip and crack like crazy.

I agree with WFlKurt that's probably a early 50's kit it's a clubdate, also that's not a Ludwig painted drum head someone did it, It is not from Ludwig.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

But... nevertheless... show me another kit that has this type of mural on it... on the original head... I bet ya cant!!!

This is what I was posting about. I was letting the man know they were a real honest to goodness option back in the day. Not that his kit is from then.
