Kick Damage

Loading...

I picked up this 3ply Ludwig 20" kick, then noticed an indent on the exterior, when I took the head off I saw this crack. The shell feels solid where the damage is. Can this be repaired? Thanks.

To me it looks like just one ply issue. Since the wood itself bubbled up and cracked, I don't think there's much to do other than leave it alone and play it. I don't think it'll be a problem.

I suppose you could carefully fill it with glue to make sure it doesn't spread or anything, but I doubt there's any way to de-bubble the wood that wouldn't damage the paint and possibly the whole shell.

But I'm not expert in woodworking.

I found these two things on a bubbling/blistered veneer. I'm not the woodworker pro either but as Gilnar mentioned, it seems it will need to be glue filled. It also mentions covering with wax paper and clamping. Sand finish and re-paint.

I have had luck wetting the area to soften, then wood glue and clamp with wood blocks to hold flat- unfortunately - sand and repaint....
