Kent Maple Drums with Rogers Hardware

Loading...

Greetings!

First time posting. I recently was given a 1961 Kent Maple Drum Set with Rogers hardware. I am looking to restore it to as good of shape as possible. What are your thoughts and ideas to help with the restoration process? Any thoughts of cleaning the wrap/shells? To leave on wrap or take off to original wood? Here is a picture for you to check out and let me know what you think. Thanks for the help!

Wrap looks cool, lots of vintage mojo going on there on that set!

I vote to leave it as is, just add some floor tom legs and you're ready :)

Found it!!

Welcome to the forum!

Like the previous posts, please leave the drums/wrap as-is! They are beauties and need no real restoration...just detailing! The floor tom leg brackets look like Slingerland. Let us know how the cleaning process is going.

Great mojo as was said before and i`m loving the ride cymbal Rogers swivo mount.Nice 1961 Kent Maple drumset gift, you lucky guy, and i bet they sound incredible.I would leave on the original wrap as it looks very good but only you know that for sure-Pink Champagne wrap is my all time fav...The age old addage is it`s better to leave it alone than to make it worse.

Two things ,

First please leave that amazing wrap .

And second they are not Kent at all as Kent maple shells never had re-rings . I am not sure what they are maybe English Rogers ?????? W&A ? I am not sure but not Kent for sure . I saw those when they were on eBay and had a discussion with the seller about them as well as a discussion on my Kent Facebook page .

And to repeat please leave that wrap that set is way too nice to ruin by removing it .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I have never seen Kent drums with Rogers lugs etc. Those most likely are W&A drums....

Strange place for a wrap seam, no? Rewrap?

Rogers B&B lugs. Slingerland claws? No logos or badges. Hoops stripped and refinished natural. Rogers cymbal collet but no Rogers tom mount. Someone may have already "restored" this set. Regardless, it looks great. I wouldn't touch it unless the B&B's are cracked.
