Hey everyone. We are in the process of upgrading the forum software to a newer version and still keep the current look and feel. A lot will happen, but in regards to what we see, there will be little change.
1. A better CAPTCHA - easier to sign up
2. Pruning of spam accounts from the system
3. Monetization options which will not be in your face like Google ads
4. New version
5. New Server
6. Clean up the style
7. Better spam protection for fake sign ups
8. Gallery system - either removed or updated
The gallery system has been my nemesis for a long time because it is old and based on a previous version. That is why it is hard to upgrade the system. The person doing it needs to be able to rewrite code and fit it into the upgrade. Believe it or not there are about 125,000 images and 125,000 thumbnails on the server in the gallery.
The other issue is that the gallery does not allow users to put their photo in a specific gallery, so early on I was manually moving the post and putting them in drum set, snare drum, etc...to much to do!
So the other day I downloaded the 125K images, created new thumbnails and put them on another server. I'm thinking if we keep the gallery and start over and hopefully make it more user and management friendly that is the way to go.
Here is the gallery of images! Gallery
The big issue is that each image had a post and title which I could not move with the image. The gallery took the name each member labeled the photo, and then changed it to a number in sequence. So, I have 125K photos with no titles, or information. It makes it totally useless for any searching or finding specific drums. My thought though is that this archive is 17+ years old and a lot of visual history. It is now saved on another server and my hard drive.
TommyP is reviewing the Project Proposal to give me a second set of eyes on the to-do-list. This should all start happening July 11th or 12th for 3 to 4 days
