He tuned his bottom head approx an octave or so higher than the top head which is where the ring came from. I found that tuning that way is great if you play like Bonham or play in a Zep tribute band. Tuning both heads to the same pitch gets really great results too.

Black dots for the Vistalites that he played on the -73 and -75 tours.

I've been watching this video over and over just to be clear that I was hearing him right. He says on the snare drum Bonham used the coated emperor and on the bottom snare side he used a ambassador or sometimes a diplomat.

Would the snare side heads be clear? I would think a ambassador would be to thick still for a bottom snare side head? Anyone use this set up? I would like to try this if this is what he really used.

I use a clear Emperor on the batter side and an Ambassador on the resonate side of my snare. I use the clear top because I don`t like the stick marks showing up so much and they don`t divit too quickly, I used a Diplomat first on the snare side for thin single ply but when Jacks didn`t have them and I already trashed the Diplomat, I got an Ambassador...I Found it gave a much better "snap" being a medium weight single ply and I am staying with that for that reason !!

Oh, one more thing,...I found myself tunning the Diplomat often and after removeing it to clean the drum,..it was too stretched out and didn`t look re-useable so I went to get another. I think I adjusted the Ambassador twice, and never again, even after cleaning the drum again.
