I have a bass drum mute for my 20" 1961 Gretsch drum. Most of the felt was missing when I bught the kit a few weeks ago but the parts are still good.
The felt that's there is 2" wide. Anyone know where I can find some detailed photos of the mute?

Hello,
You can email Gretsch, i ask the same question a few weeks ago and they send for free a high quality wool strip to replace my damage one.
Those guys are the greatest.
Cheers
David
Thanks for that.
It's really hard - impossible actually - to get by the "boarder guard" for Gretsch when you live in Canada. My emails get "spammed" to the Canadian Gretsch Rep. I did send a letter to Fred Gretsch a few months ago and he sent me a hand written card - very nice of him. He also referrred my questions to John Palmer of Gretsch and Mr. Palmer sent me a nice letter with some Gretsch goodies......info, catalog and stickers - nice of him.
So - what I'm saying is it is not possible for me to email Gretsch in the USA.
BUT - if you're willing, I'd ask you as a favour - from one forum drum-person to another - if you could email Gretsch with my request regarding my Jimmy Pratt bass drum mute. Would you be willing to do that?
Gary
You can get the felt strips aftermarket at any of the big music stores. http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_SCBF%20Bass%20Drum%20Felt%20Strip%20Muffler%20Pack%20of%202_-1_10052_10002_-49971912
