The tool is heavy, so you don`t have to hit it hard,..I believe the artist rested the tool on the cymbal and then picked it up and hit it, causeing the marks. I also think Drumaholic didn`t answer the question cuz it`s obvious !!

Vibes,..Maybe the tool was at the angle and not the cymbal !!
