Is Paypal secure? Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Hey friends I was just wondering. I was contacted by a guy in ILL tonight that wants to buy my 18" vista tom. He wants me to put it on eBay so he feels secure in his buy. I get this. Isn't he covered though by Paypal if he pays the fee and it's not a "gift" transaction? Thanks for everyone's time.

That's what I thought too. I will try to make him feel comfortable with that. I understand how people would feel uncomfortable with it especially not knowing.

I just went through the same thing when I bought my floor tom last week. I was nervous about paying someone who had a Craigs List add also. So I read through the paypal fine print and yes he will be covered as long as it is not a gift and he pays the fee. At least thats the way I saw it.

Thank you!

Agree that PayPal is secure. Just remember, never do the 'gift' thing. Not only do you lose your protection, but you're cheating PayPal. I don't expect them to cheat me, so I treat them in kind.

Good luck.

Tonight I was told by the buyer of my FT that he called paypal to see about what was covered. He said they told him that he was only covered if there was in invoice sent. I didn't look into it at all and the buyer was not a VDF member so I understood he wanted to be safe and didn't know me from Adam.

Does anyone know? Does that sound right? I thought as long as I didn't use the "gift" option I was covered.

I'm not sure, but i wouldn't think twice about obliging him and throwing an aution up for him, just make him cover your fees. i think paypal covers you either way, but if he's not convinced, why not?
