Image Manipulation

Hey All !! I've noticed a few members having trouble or not knowing how to resize or manipulate images for posting. There are many programs out there that can do this. I've been using Photoshop myself for a few years. But I also have been using Linux OS. There is a program called Gimp (Gui Image Manipulation Program) as part of many distros of Linux. It has been available for Windows for a while. This is a powerful, full featured image program.

Very much Photoshop in its power. And it is open source and free.

If you want to give it a try,go here www.gimp.org .

Happy New Year,Cheers,BigE

Thanks BigE.

Lots of problems in that area.

I just resize in Paint, part of Windows.

I've always disliked uploading images as attachments on forums. I prefer to host them on Flickr and just link them into my posts. It lets you choose between a few different sizes to use, which is nice.

But yeah... I'm a strictly Linux-only user and have used Gimp quite a bit for that.

Webmaster has asked that we attach photos directly.

Some links (eBay, other listings) go dead rendering the value of the picture moot to future use.

For non-for-sale pictures that would have historical use in the future, he spends a lot of his own time moving the pics to the forum to retain their usage in the future, and deleting the links.... something he wouldn't have to do if we would follow his wishes in this area.

Wasn't aware of that...
