Identifying English? bass drum.

Here is an old 20 x 14 bass drum I was fortunate enough to receive today. It was being used as a type of tom for recording purposes hence the floor tom legs being attatched.

I think it may be from a Beverley set but I am unsure. I do like the lugs though, having a very slim, streamlined, vintage look to them.

The shells appear to be birch, three ply, 5mm thick with solid reinforcement hoops, 7mm thick. One ungluing slightly.

The tom mounting hardware isn't there, but from the hole pattern had mounts for two toms, the one on the left still has the rubber gasket on it! Bonus.

Nice wrap! More WMP? Not really is it. The extra holes from the FT legs, will probably require a rewrap though unless I can work around it somehow. The previous owner has thoughtfully placed the FT leg brackets over the bass drum leg holes which might help restoration and mask the FT holes if the original wrap is somehow kept. I HOPE SO!

The actual tom mounts are lying around somewhere on this planet, throw them my way please if you stumble over them!

So if anyone knows who manufactured this drum Olympic perhaps? Please let me know, even stabs in the dark appreciated.

Not much to report, but just curious! Those lugs don't look like any Premier, Rose Morris or Ajax - all vintage brit stuff - I'm just not familiar with them! The claws look like premier though. Can't recognise the nutbox either! Take a look at archive shots to see if any of the hardware matches up to your guess of beverley, though I'm sure I think they ended up being the same as Premier.

Tama Superstar, 22, 22, 16, 14, 13 Desert Burst
Premier Genista, 22, 16, 13, 12 Black Lacquer
Premier Genista, 20, 14, 10 and snare Black Lacquer
Premier Resonator 22, 16, 14, 13 poly creme/black
Zickos 22, 16, 14, 13, clear acrylic and snare

I was gonna guess Olympic...Olympic has that ripple-pearl sorta wrap back in the '60's, and their shells were the thin-shelled re-ring birches, just like Premiers....but of course, if the wrap was available for Olympic, it would have been available to Beverly as well....

Hey, thanks for responding, I enjoy discudding old drums.

I am fairly certain it is a Beverley drum, made at Premier factory.

After scouring the Internet I found a picture of three Beverley kits, a few odd drums, and a catalogue or two, and they all had the characteristic lug with the striped clam shape on the side. I'll post some pics of some of the Beverley stuff I found.

I'll keep my eyes peeled and slowly put the kit together if possible.

I vote for Beverley too. I think I have those tom mounts if you're interested. I'm located in EU.

Did you already check this side?
