Identify my Slingerland kit! Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I got this kit about a year ago. I love it. It sounds great, and I was looking for an old slingy kit in white marine pearl, so I lucked out. I got this for 450$ I think it was worth it. It does have a hole in the bass drum for the tom mount, which I don't use, and i hate that. I'd love to plug it up and re wrap it the same color, but i'd hate to do that because the original wrap is perfect. But i'm not a collector, so I guess I don't really care too much. Anyway, I do know that it is mid 70's, but thats all I know. I was wondering one of you guys could give me some more specific details. The badges are silver and black niles badges. and the serial numbers are

kick 22-388817

Rack 12-396857

floor 16-388868

I tried to attach pics, but had some trouble. But I figure this may be enough.

re wrapping will be a tough thing to match the color on slingerlands!, what are the sizes?

22x16

12x9

16x16

And if i re wrap them i'll just re-wrap the whole kit in aged white marine pearl. It wont be the same, but it will do. Those tom mount holes just drive me crazy!

If it's mid-seventies it probably had a set-o-matic tom assembly.

Some pics would help. Your pics are probably just too big to post on the forum....

could I make a suggestion, why don't you sell off the bass drum and get another one, that way you will have an all original kit as opposed to an expensive re wrapped kit that will sell for far less than you'll have in the re wrap job!

I could do that. But how hard would it be to find a mid seventies slingerland virgin bass drum in white marine pearl?

I just read this entire post, Forget what I suggested, so all that's missing from your drum is it's missing the tom mount correct? Hear me out on this only trying to help, you'll have a tough time finding a virgin bass drum in this time period range unless it's a marcher or concert bass drum, but the bass drum you now have isn't virgin either, your drums are no longer made and there value is in original forum, not a re wrapped and plugged holes version! if you play with a snare drum stand to mount the tom fine, just get a slingerland bass drum tom mount to fill up the hole that is where it's suppose to be, the factory mount system works actually quite well the set-o-matic! I'm a hard Hitter and it takes what I through at it. leave your drums factory don't re wrap them or plug up the hole, just reinstall the Tom plate, here's a pic of one is this what's missing! the mount on the bass drum?

Yup, just the tom mount is missing. Which I still have. So I guess I may just put it back on. But I hate mounting things on my bass drum, so i'll probably just keep the rack on the stand.
