Identify my drums

Loading...

I was given an old (1920's?) drum set. The bass is wood, probably 2 ply maple. It has a10 lugs, old school with a T-handle at one end, a single attachment to the drum and a threaded claw at the other end. Wood rims, two small sound holes and no badge or manufacturers marks. Teh legs and all hardware clamp on the rim. I think the snare is chromed steel or plated brass, one sound hole, six lug that are old tube type and a Duplex strainer. No Manufacturer's name on the shell. There's hardware, an old Gretsch bass pedal with mallet and cymbal tip, a two tone wood block, 1/2" diameter triangle, heavy 8" cymbal mounted on the rim and a 10" hammered China gong, snare stand, mounting hardware. Everything is old and rusty. The heads are all animal skin. Here's a website with pictures of a snare almost exactly the same as the one I have: https://debrajeans.smugmug.com/Music/Duplex-Snare-Drum-1920s/

I'm looking for any info I can about these drums. I'll try and get some pictures up. Thanks, I'm a new guy here. I hope I did this right

I agree with Grantro,

Show us some pics. If the snare is exact (Duplex) to the one you gave us the link, the snare is worth about $200-250 depending upon condition. The 20-lug early 1900 snares go for more.

Looking forward to seeing some pics

Michael
