Ok, you hardcore patina dudes are going to whig out. :D

I cleaned my cymbals for the first time ever!!

Let me say again, I l cleaned them, not polished them.

Guess what I saw after cleaning a super dirty one?!?

A super tiny crack on the edge. Should have left the cymbals dirty! Hurting

So now I'm wondering what you guys think about vintage cymbals and

tiny cracks, I'm talkin' this crack is no more than 3/16'' and doesn't even

really go all the way through. I guess it can get worse, but it's a 70's stamp

and I don't know how long it's even been cracked like this. It's not

the cymbal I listed in the my other thread btw.

I did list it locally here in Portland on CL for $200 simply because

of the weight, it's 1900 grams, medium thin class.

Let me know if I'm dreaming on this one, but really I'm checking with

other cymbal gurus what the thoughts are on cracked cymbals.

Thanks :)

Eric

Yeah, that absolutely SUCKS when that happens. And it's one of those things...probably the seller (if you bought 'em recently) also had no idea.

Maaan...I have had that happen a few times with some old, rare, expensive ones...and it just really bummed me out.

Now, if it hasn't gone thru...then it's really just a deep scratch. I wouldn't worry about it. Just mount the cymbal with that section away from your stick area.....

I think without the crack $200 would be fair or a bit steep still.

The crack at the edge will increase while playing according to the Cymbal Book so the buyer must repair it.

or you could repair it. cut it!!!Excited

Anyway, I'm not interested in cracked ones. sorry:p
