how to store cymbals

Loading...

hi there,

i was comtemplating today on how to store my not-used cymbals.

usually i have them leaned against the wall in my rehearsal room.

is this bad or good?

somebody once told me they should lie flat ... but i wonder if this is true at all.

any suggestions?

Well...depends how long you are talking about. usually just leaning 'em is fine unless they are super-thin.

But if they are seriously going into storage for a while, I actually hang 'em from a rod parallel to the floor.

I have also taken drum cases and converted them to cymbal cases by doing this: putting a threaded rod thru the case and then slipping a plastic sleeve over the rod, then puting my cymbals over the sleeve with a felt spacer in between...then sitting the case vertically.

But that's probably more info than you needed....
