How to make a floor tom cut in half back whole again?

I'm not really an expert on anything, but I feel that there's a 'point-of-no-return', beyond which any (re)building is useless: the soul of the drum isn't there anymore :) Unless this is a challenge, a test of your skills and knowledge, I wouldn't do it :)

Won't go back together with any sound quality. Only way I can think of to possibly mend this would be a new inner ply extending into both halves and a interior re-ring to hold everything together.

If a craftsman could be found that had the time to putter, it would still be very spendy and at the end of the day the drum will still sound and look like chit.

Sell what you have. Hope the gods smile on what you need.

Wonder if it would be any good sonically after it was pieced back together? Jim

the short answer is NO.

While it is possible to mate the 2 halves structurally, and to make the repair all but invisible cosmetically(new inner and outer ply), it will not perform well.

The vibrations that should travel through the shell from top to bottom when struck, will stop at the join.

The drum will most likely be dead sounding, lacking both resonance and body.
