How much is my Round Badge, 3 ply Gretsch snare drum worth?

Loading...

Greetings.

I just joined this forum last night. I am a die-hard Gretsch drum fan and have a accumulated a number of pieces and have a pretty awesome set of round badges + some newer ones that came in sizes not offered in the RB years. I love the sound.

I have one snare drum that is in great shape and untouched (to my knowledge it is all original). It is a three ply, eight lug drum in a sparkle finish that is somewhere between silver and gold (perhaps uniformly yellowed silver, kind of gingerale if you will), die cast rims, micro sensitive throw off, adjustable butt, intact standard double pad muffler system. There is no paper lable inside (looks like there never was), but it is sealed with the silver paint. The drum is 5 or 5 1/2 by 14 and all the chrome is shiny with very minor pitting on some of the lugs. The wrap is perfect and tight, no lifting anywhere, no scratches on the surface of it. No extra holes. The round badge and grommet are perfect. It's a really nice looking drum. My picture files are too big to attach here, but if you give me an email address, I will send a few out.

Anyone know what the range for fair value on this drum would be?

Thanks.

I would guess $400 to $600 depending on that finish if it is faded or an original color. You should send me the photo so I can size it. I have seen a few sell on Ebay for more and it really depends on the finish and if two people really want it.

I guess it could be Champagne Sparkle. Look on this page of the main webs ite.

Definitely not champagne sparkle. Catalog you provided the link to it has to be silver sparkle with a uniform yellowing, because it is not gold. I'll email a few pics. Thanks you for your input.

Wow, thanks for posting my pics. Is there a link you can send me to so that I can learn how to down size the pictures so that I may upload them myself?

At any rate, back to the drum. So after looking at the pictures do you still feel that $400 to $600 is a reasonable indication of value?
