How Do You Ship Hoops?

Loading...

After having such good luck with tips on shipping cymbals I thought I would ask folks here about shipping hoops.

Last time I shipped hoops I had to make a box and it was a serious pain and ended up costing me more than I expected!

Help!

They have 6 or 7 distribution points across the US,so almost everything is to your door next day too for standard UPS charges...

I am going to order a bunch of 24-24-4, 26-26-4, 28-28-4 boxes to ship the large amounts of wood hoops I have.

for metal hoops i use diecast hoop boxes i get from my old job.

for bass drum hoops i usually find boxes at a music store or a furniture store, then cut down if needed. free of course.

If you order bass drum and other heads from a big supply house, they send a box that is perfect for hoops that are the same size as the head. Just did that very thing last week and turned around and used the box to ship some hoops.

I usually buy locally, but nobody had a 22" coated head. Couldn't believe it, so had to go mail order. Worse to find is the smooth heads.

Well, I'm probably not adding much, but Dan Boucher's answer hits what I do... I always save the boxes that I get my orders of heads in. I guess for that matter, I save and reuse just about any box!

And like ec_curtis, I've made a few boxes, too. And he's right... it's a pain in the rear!

Blair -- what sizes of wood hoops do you have available and how much? I'm going to need a couple of pairs of 26", one pair of 22", and one 24" and one 28" hoop to finish up putting together some shells and parts...

I'll throw in my little secret, most towns have some sort of janitorial supply shop/store. these guys get the perfect boxes for cymbals/heads/ and hoops, they have these buffing pads that come in 10" all the way up to 26" diameter, and they are heavy duty. since I buy stuff there, the guy just gives me any box I need. its my secret for shipping, works perfect!!!!
