The hand tool will do it correctly, the screw will mushroom it but both will stay in loose !!

Modern rivets, lik those I have from Bosphorous are made to be easily installed and easily removed. Sounds like yours are a bit more permanent. Can they be removed without damaging the cymbal?

I do alot of copper roofing, you`de have to drill them to remove them. the one`s on the cymbal guide catalogue are the way to go!!
