Hey Cymbal Experts - Vintage Cymbal Quiz, (various ID/Value Questions)

Loading...

The blue stamped B8s are the very earliest versions of these Sabians. B-8 is the alloy mix, 8% copper, 92% tin, where as a B-20 is 20%copper. NS-12 is Nickel-Silver and tin (the Dixie, as it is a Paiste stencil) among other metals, undoubtedly containing some copper, although you'd be hard pressed to get the exact amount I'm sure, it's worth about 50ish, I have an 18" Ludwig Standard, the same cymbal, really, and I like it, goes well with my MIJ kit.

The Pearl hats are maybe worth 20-30 bucks....the B-8 Plus early 80s I think, if you keep the set together, maybe 60ish? They are not all that rare, but you don't see them much anymore, either. I had an 18" China that was a little warped, but got some really trashy sounds out of it and wobbled like a top.

Thanks jonnistix, that's the sort of assistance I'm after. Sorry for the tardy response, but was just out picking up a carload of drums and accessories. Some decent Meinl cymbals, 18" crash/ride, and 14" heavy hats, and a 16" Zildjian crash, as well as a 12" K splash, two kits - one newer TCM, plus a nice little blue sparkle stencil that requires some hoops and a little TLC, along with four concert toms, and a whack of hardware for $150. Had to move fast on that one.

So maybe I'll hang onto the Dixie, and find the right kit to add the B8s to. Maybe the early 80s Standards that I have to rewrap, (serious fade). Thanks again.
