Help with 15" Italian hats please!

Loading...

I can't quite make the ink stamp out on my cell, but if its like the picture below they are vintage UFIP.

I have a vintage 15" UFIP crash that came with the '64 Ludwig that I recently picked up and it sounds great. Too bad it has a ton of micro cracks around the bell hole.

That does look like the same stamp. Thanks for the link to RobScott, I didn't think to look there. UFIP it is I guess. If anyone has a chance to pick up some of these from this era, grab them up cause they are great!

Thanks everybody!

You appear to have some old cymbals from Pistoia Italy, perhaps they are Pasha made by UFiP. Enjoy them.

According to Aberto Biasei, the CEO of UFIP, there were four or five other cymbal foundries in Italy between the years of 1940-1960. That doesn't make the process of determining the maker any easier. The swirling you see sometimes over and under the bell is created by lathe chatter. I've seen some Paiste pies with that same look.

You could always email UFIP and ask if they think it looks like one of theirs. Email: info@ufip.it

As far as the Italy stamp goes, I've seen multiple makers with that stamp. From what I can gather, it's just a customs stamp supplied to manufacturers to determine the country of origin.

UFIP obviously. Could be Ajaha, Pasha, Zanchi or some other Italian made cymbals, but I just lump them all in the UFiP category. :)
