Help me value my Gretsch Drum Set

I have a Gretsch drum set from the late 1960's. I bought them new in 1968. They are in very good shape except for one laminate on one of the base drum rings is loose but not off. All of the drum heads are original since I do not play them as regular as I did several years ago.

I am interested in knowing wat they may be worth and if they are rare.

The set is Champaigne Sparkle Pearl. The snare is a chrome 5 1/2 x 14 with sensitive strainer, streamline lugs, amd die cast triple flanged hoop. The base drum is a 22", the shell tom tom is 14" and the floor tom tom is 16".

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Are you sure the smaller tom is 14 and not 13?

You are correct it is 13" instead of 14".

They sounds great. Please post a picture. What is the shape of the badge on the drums - round or like a stop sign?

A 13, 16, 22 set up is a little less desireable than 12, 14. 20. Cheri Wiloughby has the smaller set up on eBay periodically. The kit is re-wrapped and the chrome is perfect. As yours is orignal and has a desireable snare drum snare drum, I think you are well north of that.

So two bits of information that you have are what the market was willing to spend on two similar items and the fact that a vendor was not williing to part with the inventory at those levels.

Are they rare - I think not terribly.

What are they worth? What a guy is willing to pay for something he really wants. Those are great drums. If you play, keep them. If you need the cash, I wouldn't want anyone to take them from me for under $2K.

Someone on this site will probably have better information for you.

I wish I could post a picture, but I am currently working and living in the Philippines. I did not want to bring them here so I have them in storage. I do not intend to sell them, but do hope a family member will one day appreciate them for wha they are and I can give them to them.

I am thinking of buying a set here just to keep in practice and maybe find some guys to play with for fun.

Thanks for the advise on value. I don't think I mentioned that they still have the original heads. They are extremely worn, but still hold their tension well. They probably wouldn't if I played them regularly.
