From Jaye

The top stamp is what I am talking about. Yes, I thought you had 2 cymbals, but it's 2 pics of one, showing the other signature on the other side...I get it ;)Drumaholic, interesting that it has both the Zvetian and Ajaha attributes....so they likely came from the same workshop ?

Yes, definitely so. In the photo of the UFIP Rosetta stone shown below, I have Ajaha pointed out. Then if you go straight up from there, near the top you see 2 examples for Zeltian. The Zeltian trademark used exactly the same "pseudo Arabic" script that you see on the trademark stamp for the early Ajahas that were pictured in this thread.

Ajaha and Zeltian are both UFIP stencil brands.

Indeed he has. That one is the grandfather of all Ajahas.

Hi John

Your cymbal with both the complete Ajaha mark underneath and a partial Zveltian on top is amazing! Have you found any more information about it (apart from the info from our resident historian Jaye)?

Hi,

Thanks for that thread it helped me to identify todays find!! I picked up a vintage Ajaha(which I swear when I first saw it it was a Zildjian in every way). It's a 20" medium ride with 8 factory rivets. It has a MEDIUM ink stamp on the front and under the bell is the Ajaha signature and a square Made in Italy stamp. There is a small stamp beside the signature that has an X underneath an unknown symbol. I'm not sure what this means. In terms of quality I'd say this is every bit as good as a vintage Zildjian (IMO). Given the stamps would it be possible to date it. It came with a 64 set of Ludwig Oyster blues from the original owner so it can be traced at least to 64 but it gets fuzzy after that(he believes it was old when he bought it but can't be sure). What ever happened to this company? It's fairly obvious they made great cymbals with great character.

Great topic and thanks for the insight!
