Help ID and info on an old bass drum

Loading...

Found this old bass drum on the curb along with and Apollo tom. I initially assumed that the bass drum was an Apollo too, but the lugs are a totally different style and I'm not too sure now.

Can anyone tell what this is based on the attached pictures?

They appear to have a white wrap, but someone has painted them a vomit yellow color.

Thanks in advance!

More pictures...

You can see the inside of the shell has a granite/splatter finish. Hopefully that's a dead give-away for someone.

Let me know if more pictures will help.

(The last picture is of the Apollo tom, not the bass drum. )

Lugs and tom mount on the bass drum are Pearl stencil bits. I had the same on my Powersonic kit. (clever triple-tom mount there) Bass drum spur mounts look like Peral as well. These were also the same on my Powersonic.

The claws and hoop hooks don't look like the ones I had however. They may be older or newer design, or from a different drum.

Thanks for the replies. I know very little about drums. Any idea what time period it's from?

Also, does the hardware have any value as replacements for a drum with damaged or missing parts? Would it be more desirable sold as a whole or parted out? Or should I just put this thing back on the curb as I found it?

Thanks again!

Bass drum is also an Apollo, just with replaced lugs. Value wise I'd say $50-$80. I certainly wouldn't put them back out on the curb, someone will have interest. Always people looking for project drums.

Thanks to everyone for their input. The mount on the tom is stamped "JAPAN" and there is also a Pearl kick pedal that came with it that is also MIJ, so it's probably safe to assume that it's all Japanese.

Any other thoughts on what I should ask for the two drums? I'm not interested in milking every possible penny out of it. I just want to put it up at a price that puts a respectable amount in my pocket without having to sit on it for months and months until the perfect buyer comes along.

Also, should I part any of it out? The tom is complete, so maybe that should stay together, but the kick is another story. If I sell all the hardware, is there much demand for bare shells?

I'll also post a thread about the kick pedal shortly.

Thanks again.

As I'm becoming more familiar with this forum, I'm wondering if this should be moved to "Vintage non-USA drums".

Would it get more traffic?
