Just keep in mind that Premier used all their hardware up when building drums, so there was no leftovers to throw out or scrap.

I'm going to agree with others and say 1966/67 for your kit. A few things throw me, L-rods on your BD, thin at the tip, for mid/late 60's the L-rods had no ball at the end and were a little thicker. Which leads me to beleive it's earlier. Your BD hoop should be silver not black with the inlay matching the shell.

The tapered points of the rest of your lugs says mid 60's to early 70's. Same with the borderless badge.

Have you measured the diameters of your shells yet? You mentioned you had a hard time fitting a head to one of your drums. Measure the shell at all the lug points, your shells will probably be out of round.

ps: hoops .. are they flanged hoops or diecast?

Cheers for the info! As for the bass drum loop - it looks a bit flakey, so well could have been painted over. Also, the inconsistant L-arms could be to do with a replacement mount? I've not measured the drums, but have since tried 3 different 16" skins - non fit, so I'm pretty sure it's pre-international. (either that or the drum is mishaped - but the top is fine) Also, perhaps I heard it on here, that smaller tom sizes (ie 12") are not effected by this as much. The 12 has a modern head on it.

Was the dual mechanism snare standard with the kit? Perhaps that's the other inconsistancy explained, as the snare has the badge with a border, floor has no border? Pretty sure the snare's die cast, but not sure about the others.

Anyway, thanks again.

The "L" I meant was the BD tension rod, notice it tapers at the end w/ a ball, the newer (1966+) BD rods didn't have the ball and were thicker towards the end.

Also, I rechecked my FT head size it's not 15 5/8, it's 16 3/8 which is why standard 16" heads will not fit, if your BD is a 22" but measures 21 5/8 then at least part of your kit is pre-int and pre 1965 the rest would be after that date.

Dual mechanism snare? Does the snare have 2 sets of wires? I didn't see that in the pic. If you mean the 2 bars, one bar is for stability and the other is the lift. If you do indeed have 2 sets of wires (one standard reso side and the other under the batter head) consider yourself a lucky bugger! The dual wire snares are very had to come by, and so sweet to play!

Sorry - getting my terms mixed up! Understand what you mean with the tension rod - had an old royale once without the ball on the end.

My floor tom is 16 3/8 btw!

As for the snare - no, just meant dual dials at either end of the strainer, with the two bars inside.

The bass drum is in fact a 20", don't know if this helps decide the age?

Thanks again!

PS - what's the kit worth? Rough estimate? I paid just under £100, with hardware and two vintage 18 crashes, Arbiter and, Ajax, and some budget hats too, so think it was a good buy?

Oh hell yea! That was a good deal! Jump For Joy

Clean them all up, polish the chrome, refinish, paint or wrap!

You can probably grab a few Premier badges off Ebay for a few quid (fluent at Britspeak :))

If any of your mates tell you you got burned, tell the buggers to sod off! :)

I'd say, £350 give or take a few.

Here's some head info for Remo, if you want to order heads, some shop there might have them already in stock.

Emperor Coated Heads:

BE-0116-PR- 16" FT

BE-0112-PR- 12" Tom

The BE is the Remo code for Emperor, you can swap out the codes for Diplomat and Ambassador.

If you need to order them keep in mind that it's a 8 to 12 week wait.

I don't know why it takes so long, rumors are going around that Remo is having difficulties for some reason.
