Help date this kit... Last viewed: 7 hours ago

I was told this is a 1957 ish Rogers Holiday kit. That seem about right? Would Rogers have come 20, 16, 13 originally?

Oh, and there is one mismatching tom (12) that i am told is an early 60's.

Any confirmation would be great. I saw the page with badge/dates. Judging by that, thinking these are maybe 1960-61

Looks like you went to Tod's garage sale, too?

If so, congratulations on picking up a great-sounding drum set.

I picked up a set of stripped '60's Pearl shells that he said he got from a rummage sale at Wally Heider's.

Yup! Todd was awesome! Really stoked on these, and they sound amazing. Had to work out a couple of rattling lugs/washers, but now its just tone!

And the tone of those beauties will sing like nobody`s business.Beautiful set and the wrap has yellowed evenly on all of them.Nice find you lucky guy.I`m not a Rogers expert but only a lover and caretaker of these wonderful Rogers instruments.Judging from the lugs you are in the ball park date wise(leaning towards late 50`s) and yes 20,16,13 were fairly common sizes with Rogers. The 12" tom is a tower model and bought as an add on(early 60`s).I`m sure one of the experts here will correct me if i`m wrong.Beautiful set...

I can attest to that. I've heard these particular drums.

A drummer named Tod in Redwood City on the San Francisco peninsula had a multi-drummer garage sale last Saturday, Many kits set up, stray bits of hardware. I drove down from Alameda.

Painful's Rogers' were set up for demo and sounded AMAZING outdoors. Very balanced, and I now know what they mean about the "Cadlillac" thing, because it's descriptive of the tone. Classy but powerful, if that makes sense.

They were the pride of the sale, the best thing there.

I picked up the aforementioned pile of Asian firewood (I wanted just the bass shell, but Tod piled the rest of them on me), a Slingerland stand base, and a cymbal grabber arm.

Are those lugs on the tom correct? Looks like leedy to me...

Those babies are a blast!! And yes, there seem to be 3 different types of lugs: the BD and the FT are 50s Rogers, one of the toms has the other kind (typical 60s Rogers) and the other tom seems to have Leedy lugs on.

Still, beautiful instruments...

The leedy lugs may be the reason i was getting so much buzz out of that tom! The screws were possibly a little too long (maybe the old rogers ones? they are red fyi). Left a tiny gap between washers, so I was getting a rattle.

Do the Leedy lugs fit in the original holes for the bread and butter Rogers lugs with no futzing around for elongating or shortening the distance between the lug mounting holes? If so, thanks for offering up a new option to consider.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
