Help?! Cant find drum anywhere

Loading...

I have a single drum with the inscription Riviere & Hawkes Makers 25 L. Ficester SQ London. I cannot find it anywhere online or in other forums, and I have tried to research it thoroughly. . It looks like a marching drum from the hardware attached to it. The drum is made from wood, brass, and rawhide. It is red and black striped. Any ideas or thoughts would be great. I would just like to know the era, where actually from, and the value.

Thanks so much![Attachment: 104859]

It`s French.

Riviere is the French version of imported instruments that Hawke&sons made in London. In 1886, Hawke&sons started producing Brass instruments. They imported parts and assembled. The shell is definitely made in France for Hawe&sons before the merger with Boosey.

Read this, about a Riviere and Hawkes Bass, it talks about Hawkes business relationship with France.

The hoops are painted over and I would say that drum is early 1900`s or late 1800`s because it excludes Boosey.

OK, here`s something else, I looked around the net and found that the H&S brass drums with that hoop paint job, were all Royal Navy. Some shells Made by Premier too In the 40's.
